volt, are now manufactured with virtually no heavy metals and may be safely
disposed of in the trash.Some
batteries, including hearing aid batteries, can be recycled.See listing below for various recycling options.
Lead Acid Batteries
Lead acid batteries used in cars, boats, snowmobiles and
ATV’s, are accepted for recycling at a number of retail stores and automotive
service facilities selling new lead-acid batteries. A core charge of $10 - $15
is usually assessed by the retailer.Also
check the Yellow Pages under Auto Parts, Scrap Yards, Recycling Drop-Off Centers
or Car Batteries. (see

Rechargeable Batteries
Check the batteries in cordless power tools, laptop
computers, cordless and cell phones, PDA's, camcorders, and remote control
toys.If they no longer hold a
